So here's the thing. Ever since I first discovered the Need For Speed series on the internet and fell into its rabbit hole, I've been wanting to play the games ever since. Even though I already played the original release of Underground, played the PSP port of Most Wanted, and played Carbon: Own the City, that wasn't enough Need For Speed for me. Then, when I finally got my own laptop, I had the opportunity to play the Need For Speed games I always wanted to play: Most Wanted, Carbon, and Prostreet.
Now that I have finally played those, I want to share my thoughts on these three games. And what better game to start with than the best one in the series: Need For Speed: Most Wanted
1. Need For Speed: Most Wanted

We start this 3-game review with the best Need For Speed game of all time, Most Wanted. Like any average Need For Speed fan, Most Wanted is my favorite one in the series. Why is it my favorite, you may ask? It's because the game's main focus is its pursuit mechanics and how dealing with the cops is not only satisfying, but is either rewarding or punishing to the player.
You play as an anonymous protagonist who climbs through the ranks of the illegal street racing scene after your car, a BMW M3 GTR, was unrighfully taken away from you by a rival street racer. You climb up through the ranks by defeating the other top 15 racers inside theBlacklist. But, before you can challenge them, you gotta prove yourself by winning races, completing milestones, and earning pursuit bounty.
Anyway, this is the greatest Need For Speed game ever. I'd give this a sweet score of 9/10 (only because this game lacks diverse customization). Love this game, will reinstall again when I get bored.
2. Need For Speed: Carbon
Need For Speed: Carbon is one of the most well known street racing games ever. I like how it borrows elements from other Need For Speed games, with the underground racing scene borrowed from the Underground games and the renowned pursuit mechanics retained from Most Wanted. However, racing is now the games main focus rather than pursuit. It's kind of a stepdown from Most Wanted, not gonna lie. Though, the game's racing mechanic has a charm of its own.
In Carbon, you control a crew of your own. You take on other crews and take their territory. Not only that, but the game allows you to take wingmen with you during races. There are wingmen that can look for shortcuts, wingmen that can take down rival racers, and wingmen that can give you a boost of speed. It makes the game feel a lot more fun, not gonna lie.
My rating for this? 10/10. I mean, I know I gave it a higher rating than Most Wanted, but this game had a lot more to offer than Most Wanted. It has a way more diverse customization setting! And despite the game's pursuit mechanics lacking any significance in this game, it's still pretty fun. Will reinstall again.
3. Need For Speed: Prostreet
And last on our list is Need For Speed: Prostreet. Unlike the previous two games, the game no longer focuses on illegal street racing. It now focuses on legal, organized street races that take place in either closed tracks, or real world streets. I like how the game combines sim racing and arcade racing elements, where the game not only allowd you to tune your vehicle for various tracks, but it also allows you to customize your vehicle to your own preference.
Unlike the contemporary arcade racing mechanics of Most Wanted and Carbon, Prostreet has more realistic handling, taking inspiration from sim racers such as Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport. It's weird to get used to the new driving mechanics after you've played Most Wanted and Carbon, but once you do, it's gonna be pretty fun.
For the game's main premise, it has you climb up through the ranks of the urban racing scene by winning various races and defeating elite racers known as "Kings". Once you defeat all the Kings, you will earn the title of "Street King".
My rating for this game would be a 8/10. It's not as good as the other two, but it's fun to play. And besides, this laid the groundwork of another great Need For Speed game, Need For Speed: Shift.
Closing
That's all I can talk about at the moment, guys. What do you think about my review? Did you guys like it, or not? If you did, then I appreciate it. Anyway, I'll see you on the next entry. Ciao! -JJ
