The Deltarune Theory

Is it just me, or does Toby Fox seem bad when it comes to making an unrelated sequel? Well, in this entry, I'll be explaining my theory on how Undertale and Deltarune are related and why Toby Fox is wrong when he said they're unrelated.

I've been playing Deltarune for quite a while now ever since I heard that it was free on Steam. After downloading it, I played it immediately. Shortly after finishing the game's first chapter, I suddenly had a revelation.

What if Undertale and Deltarune are related to each other?

Now, die-hard Undertale fans may call me stupid for this, but I might be on to something (even though I haven't played Undertale yet). And it all starts with Undertale's Pacifist Route's endgame boss, Asriel. Or should I say... Ralsei?

One of the most obvious details about Ralsei is that his name is an anagram of Asriel's name, but one not so obvious detail about Ralsei is that he's been in the Dark World for a very long time. And considering that Asriel never came to the Surface after the completion of the Pacifist Route, this seals the deal for me.

One other thing is that the layout for Undertale's Ruins and Deltarune's Cliffs seem almost similar in layout to each other. This could confirm the fact that the Cliffs are a more dilapidated version of Undertale's Ruins.

And there's one more thing that bugs me...

How does Kris connect to all of this?

They're likely an incarnation of Frisk, considering the fact that Asriel told Frisk to look over Asgore and Toriel after the Pacifist Route. They could also be an incarnation of Chara since it's possible to psychologically manipulate [SPOILERS] Noelle to commit mass murder in Chapter 2's Snowgrave Route.

But how come the Undertale cast (Asgore, Toriel, Sans, etc.) are saying that Asriel went to college? It's likely they're hiding the truth about Asriel's absence from Kris.

Anyway, thank you for coming to my TED Talk. -JJ
